| Marcum LX-9 This has to be the ultimate in flasher camera design. $1200 dollar list price but holy crap this thing is amazing. Anybody else see any new gear being introduced this year. |

I haven't really looked much yet. But the LX9 is incredible. The only downside is it is pretty big so I'm sure with the screen and features that it sucks battery power pretty quick. Super cool though. If you haven't seen it yet, check it out here. |

Perhaps everything else just went obsolete?
Otoh, so long as there's a physical cable involved, there's the whole deployment safari factor to consider, and this might too soon slow a guy (fond of dry hands) down.
And I'm a little confused... anyone know if the camera component on the end of that cable is also the depthfinder (transducer), perhaps via measuring pressure, or is that a seperate gizmo (with the potential for tangling)? In other words, does one have to let out say, 50 feet of cable to know that its fifty feet deep, or if you don't feel the need for the video look-see, you can leave the camera high and dry and just go the conventional flasher route entirely from the surface?
The spokesman does a great job, but if they really wanted to make a better product by listening to their customers, they'd have beefed up the Showdown's way too fragile transducer arm some time ago. When I was actively reading others' feedback, the recurring complaint out there was how fast that plastic arm was getting snapped off. This (and the doubtful ice) kept me from pulling the trigger last year... again. __________________ "If it has a fin, count me in."

We can & should get used to it, & follow their lead, 'cuz they just ain't eager nor apt to follow ours' any time soon. But just because we haven't caught any yet, does not mean that we can't catch any, or even catch many. We can adapt. We can do something different, and we can do some things somewhere different. We can learn to do them better, or just kick back, or just pack it on in. But whatever we do, 'catch on' & remember to have fun doing it. In the end, unless we are starving or earning our living, this really is the whole point of goin' out & tryin' to hook up. This is all I know, & really care to share, about just fishin'. The rest? A few details, but we do know who lurks there too. Take care! |

Anyone ever try the YoYo fishing reel as part of atop/down. Tried to post a pic but couldn't. They are usually used for jug or tree limb fishing. They are spring loaded and will set the hook. I thought they might fish from swallowing the hook. Anythoughts? __________________ "It's all a part o' fishin', son"

Don, youre just afraid you'll need a bigger sled if you buy some electronics.... I guess that LX9 looks pretty cool, but lots of stuff going on there....Dont they use them yo yo reels in those permanent ice houses....or something like em. And how big a hole would you need to float a jug? As an aside, and not to hijack this thread, but I was in Denver last week, and drove by the Eagle Claw hook factory....I was tempted to stop in, but didnt have time. If anyone buys one of those LX9's, I'll buy you a beer if I can stop by and see it in action..... |

Bought this hat today. Very soft fur. I have a few of these but most of them are itchy...not this one. Been wearing all day while watching my ballgames.

Jealousy is a very ugly thing. And I never said one thing about those sissy Mickey Mouse boots of yours.

Found this pic today. Back in the 80's we were on the ice on a windy day and the ice shifted along with the plank we used to get out on the slab. I always volunteer to use the plank first because if it goes I at least can get one solid foot to leap from. Anyway, I was on on the bank taking pictures as one by one each of the guys jumped into the water up to their shoulders. Looked like penguins. Had to share this classic DCL photo. What's with the pink hat???

| Im guessing the other shore was in the same condition? as it doesnt look like too far of a walk over there....and even though that picture is a little fuzzy, I think I can see the taught facial skin as in 'oooooo this is cold' Great picture, thanks for sharing. Its always a challenge to get good action shots while out in nature, as we always like to be in on the action. Theres a good job for someone...designated camera person. Thanks for the great pic, again. |

The other bank was much steeper and was about 10-20 feet deep right at the edge. This guy slipped and went completely under and lost much of his gear from his hands. Just his little pink hat was floating. There were 5 of us and these were the last two after the plank went under. I only got wet up to my knees. The guy on the ice didn't even try the plank and jumped in up to his shoulders. __________________ "My biggest fear is that when I die my wife sells my fishing gear for what I told her I paid for it" |

Great pic. guy still on ice already knows what he is in for. Throw everything on the bank and make a run for it. That's an adrenaline rush!! __________________ Jig it till your wrist hurts!! Then switch hands!!! |
